What's new in Colletta, release by release.

Initial release

The first release of Colletta, available in the private beta.

  • Writing

    • Several people can write in the same document at once, with named cursors and quiet reconnects.
    • Live, Source and Split views, and each person picks their own.
    • A formatting toolbar, a slash menu, and keyboard shortcuts for almost everything.
    • Tables you can edit and sort from the keyboard.
    • Images by paste, drop or upload, resized by dragging or from the keyboard, with location data removed.
    • Callouts, footnotes, task lists, math, Mermaid diagrams, and code blocks with highlighting and a copy button.
    • Links between documents that survive renames and moves, and links to headings that are flagged when a heading changes, with a one-click fix. Backlinks and hover cards too.
    • Mentions of people, teams and dates with @.
    • Emoji with a colon, the date with /today, and smart paste from Word, Google Docs and web pages.
    • Find and replace, an outline, folding sections, word count and line numbers.
    • Edits made while the connection is down are saved on your device, when your browser allows it, and sent when it returns.
  • Working together

    • Comments anchored to the exact words, with replies, resolve and reopen.
    • Suggested changes, accepted or rejected in place, while downloads stay plain markdown.
    • Notifications in the app for mentions and replies.
    • Follow a collaborator as they move through a document.
    • Drafts that only you and your co-authors can see until you publish them.
    • A choice of who may comment on a document: everyone who can view, editors only, or nobody.
    • Profile photos, person cards and team pages.
  • Organizing and search

    • Workspaces with a folder tree and drag and drop.
    • A home page with recently viewed and edited documents.
    • Quick open and a command palette.
    • Search across every document you can open, with related pages about the same thing in other words.
    • A corrected spelling when a search finds nothing.
    • Templates, favorites and duplicate.
    • A trash that keeps deleted documents for 30 days.
  • Your content

    • Download a document as .md, or a folder or workspace as a .zip of the documents you can export with their uploaded images (drafts only if you include your own), and print or save as PDF.
    • Import a zip of markdown files or an Obsidian vault, with a preview of warnings and unresolved links before you start.
    • Version history with automatic and named versions, restores you can undo, and who wrote what.
  • Access and security

    • Invite-only workspaces with Owner, Admin, Member and Viewer roles.
    • Sharing with people and teams as Full access, Can edit or Can view. Can edit and Can view shares can end on a date you set.
    • General access for each folder and document: restricted, everyone in the workspace can view, or everyone can edit.
    • Restricted folders and documents, with a preview of who loses access.
    • Access changes that reach open documents at once.
    • Sharing settings: who can share, and whether viewers can download, export, print and duplicate.
    • Two-factor sign-in for changes to access, whoever makes them.
    • Public links that let anyone read one document, with an end date and a switch for the whole workspace.
    • Owners and people with Full access can remove any comment or suggestion, and Admins can in documents everyone in the workspace can edit.
    • Delete your account, or a whole workspace, with 30 days to change your mind.
    • A Plan and usage page for Owners, which Admins can view.
  • API and agents

    • Personal API tokens, a read API, and an MCP server for AI agents.
    • AI agents act under your name and within the workspace's permissions. They can suggest changes, comment, reply and create drafts.
    • Connect Claude, ChatGPT or another app by signing in, and choose which workspace it reaches and what it may do.
  • Appearance and accessibility

    • Light, dark and system themes, with a warm, paper-like light theme.
