Free during the private beta

Colletta costs nothing while it is in private beta, and we don't ask for payment details. We'll publish final pricing before general availability. Below is how we plan to charge: for the people who write, with readers free and a ceiling on the bill.

Planned pricing. The plans and prices on this page are planned and may change before paid plans begin. Any change will be listed in the pricing changelog below.

During the beta, each image can be up to 10 MB, and image storage is 10 GB per workspace.

Plans

Each Owner, Admin and Member is a seat. Viewers are free, up to each plan's limit. Each workspace has its own plan, and everyone in it gets that plan. Prices are in US dollars. GIFs and animated images must fit the image limit as they are.

Only images count toward storage; text and version history never do. Items marked planned are not available yet.

Writing together and keeping documents safe are in every plan, Free included. Paid plans add room: more people, more storage, and support.

How billing will work

Proposed for when paid plans begin, and subject to the final pricing.

A bill that stops rising

Unlimited isn't something you buy separately. A Team workspace never pays more than $199 a month, which on yearly billing happens at about 30 seats. Past that, adding people costs nothing, and viewers become unlimited.

Viewers are free, up to a limit

People who only read and comment are free: up to 20 on Free and 5 for each seat on Team. The limit is there so a workspace can't run on viewers alone. Adding a viewer past the limit asks you to choose a larger plan, and everyone already in the workspace keeps their access.

Free stays free

Free workspaces don't expire. Each person can own 2 Free workspaces, and paid workspaces don't count toward that. When a Free workspace adds its 6th seat, an owner is asked to choose a paid plan first.

If you stop paying

After a grace period an unpaid workspace becomes read-only, and people who can export can still download and export on every plan. Nothing is deleted for non-payment without a long, announced notice period. See Leaving Colletta.

Compared with other collaborative markdown tools

There are good tools in this space, and some cost less per seat or keep every version on their paid plans. We chose to put more into the free plan and to put a ceiling on the bill:

  • Free has 5 seats and 20 viewers, with no time limit.
  • At least a year of version history on every plan, not only the most recent versions.
  • Full-text search in every plan, Free included.
  • Viewers are free on every plan, up to its limit, and a Team bill never goes above $199 a month.
