Display settings
These settings change how Colletta looks and behaves for you, and only you. Open Editor settings from your account menu at the bottom of the sidebar, or from quick open. Your settings are saved to your account as you change them, so they follow you to other browsers and devices.
The dialog has six sections: Writing, Layout, Appearance, Accessibility, Search, and Tips and tours. Choose one from the list beside the settings (above them on a phone), with the mouse or the arrow keys. The dialog opens at the section you looked at last.

| Hide markdown syntax away from the cursor | on | Live view only: turned off, every symbol shows and the formatting stays |
Choosing a view with the buttons above a document also makes it your default.

Section titled “Layout”| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Show the outline | off | opens the outline with every document |
| Word count | on | shows words, characters and reading time |
| Full-width text | off | uses the whole window width instead of a reading column |

| Text size | Small, Normal (default), Large |
| Code colors | Default, Soft, High contrast |
| Accent color | Blue (default), Teal, Violet, Green, Orange, Graphite |
The text font and size apply to Live view and the Split preview. Source always uses a monospace font, so the markdown lines up.
The light theme has a warm, paper-like background. The dark theme has a dark background with a lighter accent.
Choose an accent color
Section titled “Choose an accent color”The accent color is the color of links, primary buttons, focus rings, switches that are on, and selected items. Pick one under Accent color and change it whenever you like.
- It’s only on your screen. Other people keep their own accent.
- It isn’t your cursor color. The color others see for your cursor and name is chosen for you.
- The accent doesn’t change status colors, callouts, code or collaborator colors. To adjust the colors that carry meaning, use Color vision.
- The sign-in pages always use blue.
If you picked a different accent, your screen won’t match the screenshots in these guides exactly.
Accessibility
Section titled “Accessibility”| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Color vision | Default | Red-green safe or Blue-yellow safe colors for states, added and removed text, callouts, code and (blue-yellow) comment highlights, with a preview; see Accessibility |
| Screen reader mode | off | Live view keeps markdown symbols visible, so what’s read out is what’s in the text |
| Announce others’ edits near my cursor | off | in screen reader mode, says what someone else typed or removed on the lines around your cursor |
| Announce who joins and leaves | off | says when someone opens or leaves the document you’re in |
| Line styles in “Who wrote what” | off | underlines each author’s text in its own style as well as its own color |
Accessibility explains each of these, with tips for screen reader and keyboard use.
