Links between documents
Link to another document, or straight to one of its headings, and Colletta keeps the link pointing at the right place as documents are renamed and moved. Each document also shows what links to it, so you can find your way back.
Link to a document or a heading
Section titled “Link to a document or a heading”- Type
[[, or select some words and choose Link to document in the toolbar. - Find the document by its title or by words in its text. Documents you opened recently come first.
- Pick the whole document, or one of its headings.
Backspace in an empty search box goes back a step, and Escape cancels. The link uses the words you selected, or the document’s title (and the heading) if you didn’t select any.
Open a link
Section titled “Open a link”In Live view, hold Ctrl (Cmd on a Mac) and click the link. In the Split preview, a plain click opens it.
Links keep working
Section titled “Links keep working”A link points at the document itself, not at its name or its folder, so renaming or moving a document never breaks it. Headings are different, because they’re part of the text. If a linked heading is renamed or removed, Colletta offers the closest match when you follow the link.
Check a link before you follow it
Section titled “Check a link before you follow it”Hover a link to another document to see its current title and section, with an Open button. A link to a heading that was renamed or deleted has a dotted underline. If the heading was renamed, the card offers Update link to fix it in one click.
See which documents link here
Section titled “See which documents link here”Under the document, Linked from lists the documents you can open that link to this one. People who can edit also see Links to fix: links in other documents to headings that no longer exist here, each with the closest heading that does.
These lists catch up with edits within about a minute.
